Hi there, I’m Sara

You may have heard of me as Ms.Teachalot. That’s because I teach a lot! I have been helping learners full time since 2008 and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am always ecstatic when student's express to me how much I have helped improve their math and chemistry skills and confidence.

Nova Scotia Tutor Sara Young

Bio

I am a certified math and science teacher and have been tutoring since 1997. I have been in business full time with over 40 hours of tutoring per week since 2008. I come from an entrepreneurial family; my father was part-owner of Apro Computer Services, and my grandfather is founder of Alweather Windows and Doors.

I have a B.Sc. with an Advanced Major in Statistics and a minor in Chemistry from Dalhousie University where I was awarded entrance into the Golden Key International Honour Society.

At MSVU I graduated from the B.Ed. program with a GPA of 4.15. I became a certified teacher and taught math and science for the Halifax Regional School Board in Nova Scotia, Canada.

After teaching for the public school system for 4 years, I began my tutoring business. I’ve been tutoring online since 2010. Helping students overcome their fear of math and excel in their studies is my passion.

I have many interests besides teaching which allows me to relate to most individuals. I am a nature and animal lover. I have a cat, Ash, who you will most likely meet online; you can follow her on Instagram (@ash_thecat2020).

In the summer months you will most likely find me outside on random adventures such as hiking, geocaching, camping, and scuba diving. I also enjoy playing tennis and pickleball with my husband.

During the cooler months I enjoy snowshoeing and crafting, including sewing, embroidery, and paper quilling. You can see my creations on Instagram (@sara_and_ash) and on Facebook (@saraandashy).

Students Holding Testimonial Signs

"I moved to Halifax to complete prerequisite courses, calculus etc..., which I desperately tried to avoid throughout my undergraduate degree from another university. So, when I got to Dal I was terrified. Sara took the time to fully explain the concepts and theories in calculus and she did it in a way that made the language of math seem more "English" and thus, more understandable. The confidence that I acquired through working with Sara inspired me in all of my other courses as well and I would recommend her tutoring services to everyone!"
