I'm Sara Young. For nearly thirty years I've helped students go from dreading math to actually understanding it — and I'd like to do the same for you.
EXPERIENCE
Nearly three decades of making math make sense
I've been tutoring math in Halifax since 1997 and online across Canada since 2010 — roughly 30,000 hours with about 2,000 students. I hold a B.Sc. with an Advanced Major in Statistics from Dalhousie and a B.Ed. from Mount Saint Vincent, and I'm a certified Canadian teacher. My strongest ground is the two subjects students dread most: calculus and university statistics.

HOW I TEACH
Find the exact point it stopped making sense
I don't re-teach the whole textbook. I find the precise place where understanding broke down, rebuild the concept underneath it, and the procedures start making sense on their own.
I adapt to how each student learns and aim to build independent, confident learners — not just better grades.
